Tell us something about yourself?
I am Arpitha, currently living in France, although I have my roots in India. I am really enthusiastic about food and how it impacts people’s lives at all the spheres known to them. I am currently working as a chef at a vegan restaurant in France itself. Once I discovered my love for food, it was an instant decision to follow my passion, so I quit my regular Nine-To-Five job in India and now I am on a journey that leads to self-fulfillment and growth in terms of various social, personal and mental aspects. By doing this, I am at peace. Looking forward to see where I end up by continuing this.
What is your food philosophy?
The only believe that I carry with me is “Everything is good when it’s simple, natural and plant based”. Plant based because you already know, it is the most natural form of fuel and energy for your system.
It has been a good 3.5 years to 4 years that I have been doing this. It’s a transition like no other. Also, I have been a vegetarian all my life because everyone in my family is a vegetarian. I was never enticed to eat meat, ever. At the time, when I was young, my father told me one super impactful thing.
“Putta, an animal should not lose its life for your meal. No animal should suffer in pain and go through so much for us to curb our hunger”, he had said.
And that for me, to date, is everything; he had said this line with such ease and grace, though it was very inspirational for me at that very time. Also, I’ve loved animals all my life. I’ve had many dogs as pets and I loved petting cows and calves while I was growing up. I was a zealot of butter, cream, milk, and yogurt and I used to binge on dairy heavy desserts but little did I know how bad the industry was, and when I realized how severe the dairy industry is, I decided to go vegan.
I must confess, I am truly honored with a family who loves animals so it was more natural for me to make the switch because they encouraged me.
If you could give one piece of advice to new vegans, what would it be?
Possessing an open mind is essential, and do this for yourself; your health. Veganism is all about the bigger picture. Being self-absorbed hasn’t got anyone anywhere so don’t get vexed if someone is trying to help you. Also, hey, let’s get this straight. Vegans are not getting paid for raising consciousness to help humans and animals but the big dairy and meat industries are selling chemical-filled meats and other products to make billions from the mass. Look again. 🙂 People might or might not support you during your journey but you are stronger than that so don’t ever give up.
What is your idea about sustainability and what all things you do manage it?
It’s a complex topic for me, individually, because seldom it’s hard to implement and execute what you believe in and I make sure I try my best though. For example, I use Ecobowls, bamboo toothbrush, I carry my cutlery, shopping bags, and water bottle wherever I go. I have a lot more on my mind and I’m taking baby steps to make a more significant change as of now.
What makes you happy apart from food blogging?
Animals. They are genuine love with unquestionably no intention to get anything from you but love. Of course, we give them lots of food because we feed the ones we love, don’t we? Also, it’s an Indian thing for me to feed the ones I love!
I enjoy traveling as well because I love exploring various cultures, trying new food (vegan of course) and other stuff, each time it’s new with a diverse place.
Tell us about 3 of your must-have ingredients in a smoothie Bowl!
Undoubtedly, the three ingredients would be; Coconut milk, banana and chia seeds.
What do you cherish most about our products?
There’s a simple answer for that, “Sustainable, practical and super cool!”
What is your favorite recipe in EcoBowls?
As you might have known by now, every recipe that I create is mostly natural. So is the EcoBowls, hence naturality goes hand in hand. And that is what makes me like them the way I like them. Plus, they are very sustainable.
